You know what I feel like would be a good idea?

…book lists, that gradually convert casual readers of mass market into lovers of literature.

Like, you know how people say things like, “Well, at least the people reading Twilight are reading”? Okay, true, but let’s use Twilight as a gateway drug book. New readers who’ve just come off of something like Twilight aren’t going to be ready, or willing, to move right onto, say, Pride and Prejudice. But someone could make a book list themes around unrequited love, or even just romance, where Twilight was #1 and Pride and Prejudice was… #10. And then each successive book on the list could be a bit of a higher reading level, or have a bit more thematic depth, or be a bit better written—however you want to qualify it. And all the books on the list would be thematically similar.

There, I just solved how to keep the current publishing market from being saturated with paranormal grocery store garbage! I hope someone will steal this idea!

[Edit: This post had been sitting half finished in my drafts folder for months and I just came across it again, haha.]

Harkins is a fantastic artist who transforms a beach into alternate realities by creating 3D sand art. Harkins told The Herald:
We’ve seen other people doing stuff on beaches, but it’s always been geometric, flat shapes, like a pattern, so we thought we’d get into the whole 3D thing,” he said. “And I kind of like the fact that it disappears at the end of the day when the tide comes in. It makes it impermanent.”
